We started off at the Cathedral, then we headed toward the courthouse and shot a lot of fun locations in-between including the convention center! Claire and Eric were hoping for some night photos, so we took a dinner break in between and went to Hodge’s. If you haven’t been to Hodge’s on Euclid yet, go. You’re welcome in advance. We even made a photo from an art piece in the halls by the restaurant (pictured below)!
After dinner, we headed to the Playhouse Square area of downtown. Playhouse Square hosts a beautiful chandelier that serves as an amazing backdrop for romantic images. We also had some fun with cool lighting at the bus station as a change of scenery.
Playing with modified light during engagement sessions has become something I’m really enjoying. In the past I’ve played with everything from ice lights, video lights, the Phottix Indra and of course speedlights. For this session, I brought one speedlight and used the MagMod lineup to modify the light and was able to do pretty much whatever I wanted. The value of keeping it simple and focusing on what I’m trying to create has really been useful. Not to mention, carrying way less gear is much easier on the back! I hope you enjoy these photos.
