Last year I was lucky enough to photograph a Cleveland Arcade wedding on New Year’s Eve (view here)! This year, I was lucky enough to photograph a wedding at the Arcade on New Year’s Eve Eve! The Cleveland Arcade is the perfect place to hold a wedding during the winter months. Beautiful trees, wreaths and lights are spread throughout the Arcade. All of this decor makes a perfect backdrop to a wonderful wedding day.
Amy and Alex got ready in the Hyatt Arcade as well, making the logistics for the day simple. Once they were both ready, I set Alex up in the beautiful hallway for a first look with Amy. I like to shoot this moment from across the arcade so that couples can really enjoy this moment together without worrying about me.
After the first look, we grabbed the bridal party and headed out to East 4th street for some photos. East 4th is also decorated really nice for the holiday months. It was pretty cold on this day, so we hopped in the party bus and kept it moving. Our original plan was to photograph more in downtown Cleveland but the wind off the lake made it even more cold. We called an audible. The party bus headed down into the flats. The wind was blocked by buildings down in the flats. We found a beautiful whitewashed wall. This was a perfect backdrop that drew attention to the bridal party and Amy and Alex.
After the flats, we headed back to the Arcade for the wedding ceremony. The arcade was dark by this time, so I used flash for the ceremony. This gave the ceremony images a unique and contrasty look that I love! As you can see from the wedding photos, there were a lot of tears of joy during the ceremony.
Wedding guests then went upstairs for cocktail hour. The first dance followed cocktail hour. Speeches followed the formal dances. After the speeches, Felix and Fingers Dueling Pianos took over for open dancing. Felix and Fingers are incredible talented and so much fun! This was my first wedding with dueling pianos and I hope that it’s not my last! Everyone kept the dance floor packed the entire night! Thank you so much Amy and Alex for having me photograph your big day!
