As F. Scott Fitzgerald writes in The Great Gatsby, “Life starts over again when it gets crisp in the fall.” For Amanda and David, life is definitely undergoing its fair share of changes. These two will be tying the knot in June 2016, and I was lucky enough to shoot their Chicago engagement session with a special guest: their new puppy, Penny.

*Cue the “ahhhs!” and “awws!” from potential female clients.*

A walking tour of their favorite Chicago spots seemed fitting, since the two Ohio University alums currently reside in  Lakeview. We hit up the Lincoln Park Zoo, one of the prettiest in the country, before heading closer to the water for some  more laid-back, relaxed beach shots. What struck me immediately with these two was a clear, easy-going friendship. It’s not hard to tell by looking at the photos that they share some crazy-good chemistry, but there’s something to be said for dating through part of college and growing up together in those first few post-grad years. I’m so excited to watch them take the next big step of their lives on the big day (and see Penny again, obviously).

Big thanks to Amanda and David for making this Chicago engagement session one for the books.

I can’t really tell who’s cuter; Penny,  or her totally-in-love owners. chicago-wedding-photographerThis is a look I’m used to capturing with my clients: pure joy and love.chicago-wedding-photographersPerfectly silhouetted against the Chicago dusk.greater-chicago-wedding-photographerNot even Chi-town’s skyline takes away from this chemistry.lincoln-park-zoo-engagementLet’s not forget the bling! lincoln-park-engagementWhether in Lincoln Park tunnels or in the middle of the city lights, Amanda and David only have eyes for each other. downtown-chicago-engagementA kiss for the books! chicago-engagement-photos
