Q: What do ring pops, polka-dot socks, and kissing in the rain have in common?
A: They are all elements of the kick-a$$ wedding I shot last weekend.
Meet Tony and Amber. This fun-loving, quirky duo held their Cleveland wedding at St. James in Lakewood with a reception following at the Ariel International Center on the east side of Downtown. Amber’s giddiness and excitement for the day didn’t go unnoticed, and she promptly made plans to help ease any nerves for her soon-to-be husband by providing him with a “Wedding Survival Kit.” What’s in one of these, you ask?
- a mini cask of Crown Royal to “calm the nerves”
- a ring pop in case he “forgot the wedding band”
- and a pair of socks to prevent him from “getting cold feet.
… genius, no?
And the ever-prepared couple was sure to pick an equally-“dope” group of groomsmen and bridesmaids to round out their bridal party. Post ceremony, we stopped downtown for a bit before making our way to the Ariel center, which provided an edgier, more urban-eclectic backdrop for some single couple shots.
As the skies turned cloudy and the air hung a bit heavy, I took Tony and Amber upstairs in the hopes of capturing some roof photos. I hadn’t clicked the shutter release twice before the light sprinkle turned to a downpour, but nonetheless we managed to get a really unique kissing shot in the rain. I’m no meteorologist, but being prepared for any weather condition, (i.e. packing the high-focussed lenses and maybe even a rain parka…especially for a Cleveland wedding), pays off when you end with shots like this.
Cheers to an awesome couple and an amazing day!
